Allison O'Grady, LCSW-C
Allison O'Grady is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years in the behavioral health field. She has been in private practice since 2008 in Charlottesville, VA working with individuals and couples who have experienced trauma, loss, relationship conflict, and other sources of distress. She aims to help clients gain insight into their situation by emphasizing client strengths and collaborative skill building. She utilizes an integrative approach to treatment with individuals involving psychodynamic, attachment-based, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), mindfulness, interpersonal, trauma-informed, and emotionally-focused (EFT) therapies to help them achieve their goals.
Allison provides integrative trauma treatment to adults, adolescents & couples, incorporating both traditional and mind-body interventions. She helps clients who struggle with intrusive thoughts, memories, and feelings that often stem from traumatic experiences, poor attachment, and grief. She also offers EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, an effective processing therapy for healing trauma.
Allison has worked in a variety of settings including substance abuse treatment, community mental health, crisis response, private practice, and as a faculty and employee assistance professional (EAP) at the University of Virginia. She completed her undergraduate work at James Madison University and earned her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently relocated to the area and is excited to be joining the Beacon Center. Allison offers free initial phone consultations. Allison accepts CareFirst BCBS and self pay with a sliding scale option.
